Northeast Biomedical began the expansion of its facilities in July, which will provide more space for innovation and product realization using their time-tested and ISO certified process. Northeast Biomedical (NEB) is an ISO 13485:2016 certified medical device product development, distribution, and manufacturing company. The NEB development team consists of highly skilled engineers who navigates clients through all stages of product development and design.
“The expansion will allow NEB to offer more to our customers in addition it will help de-risk programs early in the development stage, accelerate time to market, allow us to offer more customized solutions, and provide superior customer service,” says Timothy Looney, Northeast Biomedical’s President.
Adding more advanced R&D capabilities is one of the key features of the expansion. This will allow for more focus on extensive fundamental research in the be
ginning stages, saving customers time and money by de-risking the process early. Enhanced lab space will include areas for advanced electronics development, dedicated disposable medical device development and advanced robotics.
The expansion also incorporates dedicated contiguous project and manufacturing space, allowing for individual work space for each customer. In addition to expanded capacity for automation equipment and systems, the plans include a larger wet lab. A larger wet lab will allow for biology-based devices to be designed and tested in-house. There will also be additional meeting space that is designated as an innovation zone with features that will allow for brainstorming and idea generation.
“I am very excited about the expansion!” says Athena Osbourne, Senior Product Development Engineer. “It will be great to have designated spaces for small group discussions and meetings, innovative thinking, prototyping and production. The new space will help us keep projects well-organized and work flowing smoothly during all phases of development.”
